WebMCP-assisted onboarding

Describe the company once.
Review a structured draft.

Praecis gives compatible browser agents a typed, authenticated way to prepare a company workspace. ChatGPT's desktop built-in browser now supports WebMCP Site tools when they are available for the account; the guided Praecis flow remains the fallback everywhere else.

Current ChatGPT support

OpenAI calls WebMCP capabilities “Site tools” in the ChatGPT desktop app's built-in browser. Availability depends on account access and the current page. WebMCP tools do not register on praecis.co, sign-in, password-reset, or general dashboard pages. Praecis exposes setup tools only on the authenticated New Company page.

From idea to reviewable company

Give the assistant the outcome.
Let Praecis enforce the structure.

WebMCP is designed for the messy first ten minutes of onboarding: gathering company context, structuring it correctly, and identifying what still needs a human decision.

01

Open the exact tool page

Sign in and open app.praecis.co/companies/new. The page reports whether the required WebMCP tools are enabled and registered.

02

Ask in normal language

Give the assistant the company name, website, goals, milestones, competitors, next steps, and any context you already have. It prepares a validated structured draft instead of simply filling visible fields.

03

Review before activation

Confirm the proposed details and source mappings. Provider OAuth remains a direct action between you and the provider. The company stays a free draft until the required activation review is complete.

A request you can actually use

One prompt can prepare the company context Praecis will keep.

A strong request includes the company, the operating context you already know, and the stopping point. Praecis validates the structured result and returns a reviewable draft that becomes durable company context only through the product's normal controls.

Set up Acme in Praecis using acme.com. Our 90-day goal is $50,000 in monthly revenue. The first milestone is launching paid acquisition by October 15. Watch Competitor A and Competitor B. Create next steps for the founder to connect GA4, Shopify, and QuickBooks. Show me any already-authorized accounts that appear to match, but stop before activation.

The guardrails

AI can prepare.
It does not become the authority.

Praecis treats WebMCP as a progressive enhancement to the normal product—not a replacement for authentication, provider consent, tenant boundaries, or human judgment.

Authenticated and page-boundThe assistant must be operating on the signed-in Praecis onboarding page where the tools are registered.
No provider passwordsGoogle, Shopify, Stripe, Meta, and other providers keep their own authorization flow.
Drafts firstAI-prepared companies remain inactive and free until activation passes the product's required review.
Tenant-scoped and auditedEvery operation is checked against the current workspace and recorded through the canonical onboarding path.

Straight answers

What to know before you use WebMCP.

Does ChatGPT support Praecis WebMCP tools?

ChatGPT's desktop app has a built-in browser with Site tools, OpenAI's implementation of the proposed WebMCP standard. When Site tools are available for your account and the signed-in Praecis New Company page registers a matching tool, ChatGPT can discover and use it. Support is still account-, model-, and page-dependent rather than universal.

Why are no Praecis tools visible on praecis.co or password reset?

That is intentional. Praecis registers setup tools only on the authenticated, task-specific New Company page. Open New company, confirm the page reports tool registration, and then refresh the compatible agent's page-tool list.

Does WebMCP mean Praecis can log into my business accounts?

No. WebMCP helps an AI assistant work with structured tools on the authenticated Praecis page. Provider authorization still happens through the provider's own OAuth or approved connection flow, under your control.

Will it work with every AI assistant and browser?

No. WebMCP is still a proposed web standard and support varies by product. ChatGPT's desktop built-in browser currently supports Site tools when available; other agents and browsers have their own support status. Praecis keeps the complete guided onboarding interface available regardless.

Can the assistant activate a company automatically?

Not in the standard Praecis onboarding workflow. It can prepare and revise the draft, but activation remains behind the product's required review. Draft and archived companies do not count toward active-company billing.

Why is this better than an agent clicking through forms?

Structured tools communicate the operation, required fields, validation rules, and result directly. That reduces ambiguous clicking and makes the outcome easier to review, retry safely, and audit.

Is WebMCP the same as a server-side MCP integration?

No. WebMCP is browser- and page-bound: the assistant must visit Praecis to discover the tools. A remote server-side MCP connection that lets an external chat call Praecis without opening the site is a separate capability and should not be inferred from WebMCP support.

WebMCP remains a proposed standard rather than a finalized W3C Recommendation. Praecis treats support as progressive enhancement and keeps authentication, provider consent, validation, and tenant boundaries in the existing product path.
